Men's School welcomes essay submissions on topics relating to:

Our School curriculum. We would like to hear from those who have either academic qualifications or experience in one of the knowledge areas and are able to write concise and accessible educational essays for a general audience.
A craft, trade, or skill that you practice. For example, how you created a business doing what you enjoy or what it takes to become good at it.
A noteworthy event or story from your local community that demonstrates the values noted in our About pages.
Education and learning (for example, new developments in teaching methods or technologies, or approaches to education people might not know about - traditional or unique).
Small business success stories.

We are currently accepting submissions from within Australia only.

Essay length

1,500 words (+/- 100)

Guidelines

For academic topics, the essay should be based on a specific concept or idea in one of the knowledge areas (for example, 'homo economicus' or 'economic man' in economics). It should help the reader understand the concept or idea while providing analysis or insight based on complementary research or asking fundamental questions (knowledge from other disciplines is particularly welcome - for example, analysing an aspect of economics or literature using history or ethical concepts). We are not looking for academic or highly technical essays that simply explain a concept or idea, but content that informs and entertains by analysing a specific idea in a unique way. Previously published articles give some idea of the tone and writing style we are after. In summary, we are seeking well-researched and credible essays that are engaging, easy to read, and interesting for our audience (check our About pages for details).

Publication

In addition to publication on our websites or similar platforms, essays may be adapted into a script and published as part of a video to an online video platform.

The full essay as an attachment, with the file name formatted: "Author Name_Essay Name"
A brief summary of the essay
Information about you: short one paragraph summary, including any relevant qualifications and experience
Personal link: online link or preferred point of contact for our audience

Rights & Payment

Men's School purchases the following rights:

Perpetual digital publication rights, for the duration of Men's School's existence
Exclusive publication rights for the first month after the date of publication
Right to publish the article in a future print anthology (one-time print rights, non-exclusive)
Right to adapt the article into a video script and reproduce in video form

Authors retain original copyright in their article. Full terms are provided in our Publication Agreement.

We are currently paying a flat fee of AUD$200, no royalties. Payment is processed within 14 days of publication.
